Charles Martin, Mannequin Blanc

Charles Martin was a preeminent illustrator, graphic artist, set and costume designer of the art deco era. “He studied at the Montpellier Ecole des Beaux-Arts, the Académie Julian and the Paris Ecole des Beaux-Arts under Crmon. He was a prolific illustrator, working for La Gazette du Bon Ton, Le Journal de Dames et des Modes, Feuillets d’Art, Fémina, Le Sourire, Le Rire, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair, in addition to illustrating a large number of books.

This particular costume design in pencil and watercolor shows an elegant woman in draped white gown is signed and titled “Mannequin Blanc”
